Come Together
The next of our regular "Come Together" meetings will be on Friday, October 3rd, at 7 p.m. in the Wesley Room. The evening will be led by Martin Sykes and Revd Richard Harrison will lead Holy Communion. We generally meet on the first Friday of each month and all are welcome to join us.
Yet again the dancing is drawing near - we start on Saturday September 13th. As usual, dancing will be from 7 p.m. till 10 p.m., light refreshments will be available throughout the evening and entry will be £2-50 on the door. We shall retain our well tried style - i.e. a general mixture of dances, hopefully with something for everyone - requests are always welcome!! We look forward to seeing our "regulars" again and would love to be able to welcome newcomers - do give it a try.
The other dates for this season's dances are:
October 11th, November 1st, December 6th.
January 17th, February 7th, March 14th.

West Bridgford Photo Marathon - September 27th
As part of Hope08, Churches Together in West Bridgford have organised the West Bridgford Photo Marathon. The idea is to take 24 photos on a set of themes handed out on the day. Professional photographers will judge the entries and prizes have been donated by local sponsors including Boots, Fotomargo and David Lloyd. People from all over the country take part in events like this so it is a great opportunity for outreach. We hope that church people will invite their friends to take part and strike up new relationships. Though organised by churches, it is not an "overtly religious" event and will appeal to anyone interested in photography at any level. Prizes will be presented a month later at West Bridgford Methodist Church by Frances Finn of BBC Radio Nottingham, a committed Christian who regularly speaks about her faith and her work as a Radio Presenter. In a low-key but creative way we will explain why, as Christians, we have offered this event as "our gift to the community" and why we have chosen HOPE as our theme.
If you wish to take part, please book through the web site (£5-adult, £2.50-under 16). Bring a group from your church and take the idea away with you to run in your locality.

Swing Low Sweet Sixties
Tuesday 4th Novemeber, 7.30pm
An exploration and reflection on the music, films, thoughts, events and religion of the 1960s
Christianity Today - an American magazine - described those born post-World War 2 as:
"Historically, they form the single largest generational cohort. Philosophically, they have redefined American culture. Sociologically, they connect through a unique generational identity bordered by dramatic historical events, music, and mass media.
Economically, they are the wealthiest generation in American history.
And spiritually, they are seeking authenticity, experience, and personal truth."
Swing Low, Sweet Sixties is an attempt to connect with this generation. It follows on from the successful evening discussing Richard Dawkins book, 'The God Deluson' . Over 30 people attended this event, with about a third not being regular church goers.
If you would like to know more about hosting an evening on Dawkins or the 60s contact: Geoff Bagley gbagley@ntlworld.com
Tel:0115 9258801.
Investigate will be meeting on 11th October, doors will open at 7.15pm and finish at 9.30pm.
It is open to young persons in school year 9 or above.
The evening is packed with music to chill out to and have a chat, there are games to play on the Wii, PS2, a pool table and other card and board games.
There will be a thought provoking message that relates to you and your life.
